v2rayN has an official macOS version (macOS 12 and later), with the same Xray and sing-box cores and an interface similar to Windows.

Prerequisite: a Mac running macOS 12+ and a config link or subscription from your provider.

Step 1: Choosing the right file

Open the latest stable release (7.25.4 at the time of writing) from github.com/2dust/v2rayN/releases:

Your Mac Recommended file
Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4 and newer) v2rayN-macos-arm64.dmg
Intel v2rayN-macos-64.dmg

A .zip build is also available for both architectures, and it is portable.

To find out your Mac's architecture: menu → About This Mac → next to Chip or Processor.

Step 2: Installation

  1. Open the .dmg file and drag the app into the Applications folder.
  2. The package is unsigned. If macOS reports that the app “is damaged” or “cannot be opened”, run this command in Terminal:

bash xattr -cr /Applications/v2rayN.app

  1. Now open the app. If it is still blocked, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

This command only removes the quarantine flag from that app. Make sure you got the file from the official GitHub.

Step 3: Adding a config

  1. Copy the vless://... link.
  2. In v2rayN press Cmd+V, or use the Servers menu and choose the option to add from the clipboard.
  3. For a subscription: in Subscription group setting, create a new group with the subscription URL and update it.

Step 4: Connecting

  1. Double-click the server to activate it.
  2. Choose the mode:
    • System proxy: changes the macOS proxy settings and is suitable for browsers.
    • TUN: captures all traffic. On macOS and Linux it needs elevated access and may ask for your Mac password. It is supported with the latest app version and the Xray core.
  3. On first use, macOS may ask for permission to change network settings; allow it.

Step 5: Testing

  • Check your IP on a test site.
  • Check for DNS and IPv6 leaks.

macOS alternatives

  • Hiddify: the Hiddify-MacOS.dmg and Hiddify-MacOS-Installer.pkg files (Universal). Simple interface and sign-in with a subscription link. The latest version reviewed is v4.1.1 (March 2026).
  • Streisand or FoXray: the iOS versions also run on a Mac with Apple Silicon.
